Product description

Steel cord pull conveyor belt（also known as Steel cable belt 、PVL CABLE BELT、Steel cable driven conveyor belt）has special designed ear groove slots embedded on both sides of the conveyor belt, which mesh with two parallel running closed-loop steel wires (steel cables). The drive unit pulls the steel wire ropes, which, via friction or mechanical engagement, propel the belt and the material carried on it. Along the entire length of the conveyor, the drive cables are supported, contained, and guided by idler pulleys, which are bolted to the frame of the support structure. The variable‑speed drive may be located at either end. Depending on the application and design, these systems can be driven from the head, tail, or an intermediate drive. The steel cable that drives the belt itself does not bear the traction load; it only supports the weight of the conveyed material. This results in a high load‑carrying capacity, making the system suitable for both personnel and cargo, and ideal for long‑span, long‑distance material transport. Advantages include minimal elongation, uniform tension, smooth operation, resistance to misalignment, small horizontal and vertical turning radii, modest site‑environment requirements, and easy replacement.

Insert a steel bar of appropriate diameter—whose load‑bearing capacity exceeds 10 tonnes—through the central hole of the belt roll. Securely connect the wire ropes (or chains) at both ends of the lifting device’s suspension beam to the exposed portions of the steel bar, as shown in the figure. The distance between the connection points of the wire ropes on either end of the suspension beam should be greater than the belt width plus the packaging roller width, to prevent the belt and its ear‑type adhesive from being crushed or abraded by the wire ropes (or chains).

The steel‑cable belt incorporates an internal steel‑strip or steel‑mesh carcass that provides the lateral strength required for material handling. Since all longitudinal tensile forces are borne by the drive cable, the belt is resistant to longitudinal tearing. All belt splices are made using mechanical splice connectors. Splice connectors are mechanical cold‑splicing devices that secure the two ends of the conveyor belt by interlocking metal buckles and then fastening them with pins. Their advantages include quick installation and removal without the need for heat‑activated adhesives; however, their splice strength typically amounts to only 30%–45% of the original belt’s strength, making them unsuitable for heavy‑load, high‑speed, or small‑idler applications.
